Treatment Modalities Offered at White Deer Run of York

Residential treatment at White Deer Run of York is a comprehensive program for adult men and women, ages 18 and above. At our Mt. Zion location, you can receive personalized residential care that is designed to help you overcome substance abuse, as well as co-occurring mental health conditions. The typical length of stay in our residential treatment program is about 18 days, though this may vary from individual to individual, and includes a variety of treatment modalities, including:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational enhancement therapy (MET)


Therapy Sessions Offered at White Deer Run of York

In addition, the following supports may be incorporated into your personalized treatment plan at White Deer Run of York at Mt. Zion:

Medication management:  Soon after admission, you will meet with a psychiatrist and receive a psychiatric evaluation. Medications (if needed) will be administered and managed by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified registered nurse practitioners.

Individual therapy: Individual therapy sessions are excellent opportunities for you to meet one-on-one with licensed or certified counselors to process successes and setbacks that you will experience during treatment, and address other issues related to your recovery efforts. At White Deer Run of York at Mt. Zion, individual therapy sessions are conducted at least once per week. Additional sessions may be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Group therapy: Group therapy sessions are conducted five days a week. During groups, you can share insights, learn from the experiences of others, and practice the interpersonal skills that will assist you in your recovery. These group therapy sessions are led by licensed or certified counselors. The following groups may be offered during your experience at White Deer Run of York at Mt. Zion:

  • Chemical dependency
  • Co-occurring disorders
  • DBT (Seeking Safety)
  • Relapse prevention
  • Mindfulness
  • Coping skills

One of the many benefits of group therapy is that the topic or topics addressed in any session may be customized according to the specific needs of the participants. The following are among the topics that may be addressed during group therapy at White Deer Run of York at Mt. Zion:

  • Getting motivated to change
  • Addiction education
  • Understanding and reducing angry feelings
  • Building social networks
  • Living in balance
  • Ideas for better communication

Family therapy: With an understanding of the important role that family members can play in recovery, the staff here at White Deer Run of York at Mt. Zion will schedule family therapy sessions when necessary and clinically appropriate.

Experiential therapy: This treatment modality has been shown to increase the connection between the body and the mind, and promote lasting healing through self-expression. You will have the option to participate in activities like art and music therapy during your time with us.

Continuing care: A residential treatment program is just one step along the lifelong path of recovery. In order to ensure that you have the services and support that you need to build upon the successes that you made during rehab, you will meet with one of our case managers to create a comprehensive aftercare plan.
