Our Halfway House Programs for Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment in Pennsylvania

At White Deer Run Treatment Network, we help individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues build a strong foundation for long-term recovery.

Our Halfway Houses

Enrolling in a residential rehabilitation program can be an essential step for individuals who are dealing with chemical dependency and certain co-occurring mental health disorders. However, at the addiction rehab centers within the White Deer Run Treatment Network in Pennsylvania, we are well aware that not every person who completes residential rehab is prepared to make an immediate successful transition out of treatment.

For those who can benefit from additional assistance following the completion of their residential rehab experience, we are proud to provide supportive and structured step-down care at two gender-specific halfway houses, both of which are located in historic Johnstown, Pennsylvania:

  • New Directions of White Deer Run is a 30-bed halfway house for adult men.
  • Renewal Center of White Deer Run is a 25-bed halfway house for adult women.

At both of these programs, our focus is helping men and women who are in early recovery learn how to live happier, healthier, and more productive lives, free from the scourge of substance abuse and chemical dependency. We place great emphasis on guiding our clients through the process of developing independent living skills and making a successful return to the workforce. The minimum length of stay at both of these halfway houses is 90 days, though individuals may stay longer depending upon their progress and continued needs.

Types of Treatment

The vast majority of clients transfer directly into Renewal Center of White Deer Run and New Directions of White Deer Run from a residential rehabilitation center. Medication Management – Halfway house participants who have medication needs will self-administer their medication under the supervision of house staff members. Participants who are enrolled in medication assisted treatment that involves monthly injections of Vivitrol will be will be transported by house staff members to the treatment center where they can receive those injections. Vivitrol program participants may also schedule psychiatric appointments at the location where they receive their Vivitrol injections.

Individual therapy – Women and men who receive care at Renewal Center of White Deer Run or New Directions of White Deer Run will participate in two individual therapy sessions each week throughout their time in rehab. These one-on-one sessions with a counselor are confidential and supportive environments in which participants can process successes and setbacks as well as address issues that feel may not be appropriate to discuss in a group therapy setting.

Group Therapy – Both of our halfway houses offer a variety of group therapy sessions five days each week. These sessions, which are led by trained and experienced technicians, allow participants to learn from others who are or have been in similar situations, share their own insights and experiences, and practice healthy interpersonal skills.
