Types of Treatment

Our treatment program is open to men ages 18 and older who have a substance use disorder, as well as men who also have certain co-occurring mental health disorders. Individuals typically stay at our rehab center for 28 days, though length of stay can depend on individual needs. Treatment modalities include Choice Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, 12-step principles, and Motivational Interviewing. Depending on each individual’s needs, treatment may include the following:

Medication management: Individuals with mental health concerns will meet with our medical team soon after admission and will receive medication management services as needed from our nursing team and staff psychiatrist.

Individual therapy: At our rehab center individuals in the residential program will meet with their individual counselor at least once per week. Individual therapy provides treatment participants with a chance to receive support and process material that emerges in the course of their treatment.

Family therapy (Family services): Because an individual’s family can often be a strong source of support, our rehab program offers weekly family therapy on an as-needed basis.

Group therapy: Groups are a fundamental part of treatment at White Deer Run of Allenwood. Individuals in the residential program have the opportunity to attend structured activity groups, small groups, and mental health groups. Activity groups are offered six times per day, seven days per week. Small groups and mental health groups are conducted four times per week. Group topics may include the following:

Continuing care: Because recovery is a lifelong journey, at White Deer Run of Allenwood, we have designed our program to give each participant the best possible chance of healing. For many people, residential treatment is only the first of many steps toward a life free from substance use, so we start discharge planning at the beginning of treatment to ensure that each individual is able to build on the progress he has made during residential treatment.

Co-occurring disorders: At our rehab center we understand the unique challenges that come when one struggles with both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health disorder. As such, we provide specialized treatment in our co-occurring disorders track within our residential rehab program, which includes the interventions described on this page as well as groups designed specifically to address the unique needs of people with co-occurring mental health disorders.

At White Deer Run of Allenwood, we understand the challenges that come along with seeking treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders, and we honor the courage required for each person to seek treatment. We are dedicated to giving each individual in our care the best possible chance of recovery and a path to a life free from the chains of addiction.
